Ways to get and stay organized
Getting and Staying Organized
Nobody ever said that organization happens once and then just stays that way. It takes effort to clean up after yourself and remember to put things away. Sometimes things are so disorganized that you may need to learn how to start, much less keep it going. I offer a few of my favorite ideas to help tackle clutter and keep up with important things.
The best way to keep track of things is to designate a place for everything. I like to start with a large valet tray with many openings. Then, I label all the openings for everyday items. I hook up my chargers and attach them to the valet so they never disappear.
Instead of carrying around different sets of cords, buy four multi-cords—one for your bag, one for work, one for home, and one for the car. Buy duplicates of all chargers for items in multiple places, like a laptop computer, so you have a charger everywhere the computer goes.
Baskets are also a great way to organize. Get baskets and label them: blankets, shoes, laundry, dog items, books, or whatever you need to take care of all the things.
Install hooks in closets in addition to rods, which is more accessible than using hangers for everything.
Label your drawers and closets, and shelves.
Get a whiteboard and put it in a prominent place to write down reminders for yourself.
Put up hooks for keys near your door.
Keep Sticky notes around to write yourself reminders and put the reminder where needed. I like the kind that comes in a multi-pack, like a book.
It keeps them in one place, and they are easy to find.
Happy Organizing!
